Community Management and Social Web

As an avid photography enthusiast, Marc has worked to bring the DC area photography community closer together.  These efforts include:

  • Running his personal blog, Marc Benton dot Com, posting articles that focuses mainly on web trends in photography along with announcements of photography events in the area.  Marc has been published on the popular photography blog Black Star Rising.
  • Marc is the creator and managing editor of PhotoBlogging DC (PBDC).  PBDC is a site dedicated to highlighting the works of photographers from the Greater DC area.  It is scheduled for re-launch in March 2010.  Marc also runs PBDC social media efforts through its Twitter account and Facebook page.
  • Marc runs his own photoblog, Marc-a-Day, where he posts daily photos from his portofolio.
  • Regular contributor of photographs for the local news site We Love DC.
  • A fan of photowalks, Marc has organized over 10 events of this type over the past 18 months including the Old Town Alexandria leg of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk.  Marc is the leader of Photowalk DC, a Facebook group of over 160 local photography enthusiasts that meets for events once a month during the good weather months.
  • Marc was a presenter at the 2009 WordCamp Mid-Atlantic and expects to present at the 2010 event on the subject of Photoblogging with Wordpress.  He uses his knowledge of Wordpress to assist local photographers build and maintain their portfolios online.
